Make a slide deck in Gamma in twenty minutes

You have eight minutes at the morning meeting to explain why support emails are up. Write an eight-line outline, paste it into Gamma, then fix only three slides: the title, the key number and what you need them to approve.

The problem

Tomorrow's morning meeting needs an explanation of why support emails went up this week. You open your slide software, stare at the company template's title slide, and all you can write is "keep monitoring."

What to prepare

  • A notepad

How to do it

  1. 1

Write eight lines before you open Gamma

Each line is one slide. After the first slide, each slide gets one point.

    Prompt
  2. 2

After it generates, fix only three slides

Don't change fonts slide by slide. Check only: is the title in plain language, does the numbers slide have 120, 168 and 61 right, and does the last slide clearly say what you need them to agree to.

  3. 3

Present it out loud once; cut slides if you go past eight minutes

Use presenter mode and talk it through. If you stall on a slide, it has two points.

  4. 4

Before exporting, check nothing gets cut off on the projector

Gamma's default ratio is usually fine, but use present mode to check the ask on the last slide. If that sentence spills onto another slide, people will think you're not done.
