Website visitors to outbound emails: Grok Bot built the whole workflow that used to take a week

At his last job the author spent a week downloading GSC, RB2B and HubSpot data and building Clay tables by hand. This time he wrote a spec and had Grok Bot build the whole thing: identify visitors, skip current customers, pick the right people, check every email before it sends, and alert Slack.

The problem

Most website visitors are anonymous. Turning them into outbound means finding the company, picking who to contact, getting a valid email, and avoiding current customers.

What to prepare

  • Clay, Squid
  • Salesforce, EmailBison, Slack

How to do it

  1. 1

    Write the spec before building

Write down the end state, the non-negotiables and what done looks like. The author says that with AI you should spend more time on scope and guardrails than on building.

    Prompt

Replace the 3 ✎ dashed parts with your own details, then copy.

I want to build a website visitor to outbound workflow. Don't build anything yet; write the full spec and show me first. End state: when someone visits, find the company and person and send one email written for the pages they viewed (sample, replace with yours). Never: email current customers or open deals, mention that they visited our site, or link to anything outside our content library (sample, replace with yours). Done means: every lead has a first name, last name, LinkedIn and a verified email (sample, replace with yours).
  2. 2

Filter before you look up contacts

Filtering is free and finding contacts costs credits. First drop agencies, competitors, government, schools, current customers and companies over 1,000 employees.

  3. 3

    Screen out current customers

Before anything sends, check Salesforce. Skip anyone with a current customer record or an open deal.

  4. 4

Check every email before it sends

Block any email that hints at a site visit, links outside the content library or breaks the style rules. If it fails, it doesn't send.

  5. 5

    Post every visitor to Slack

Include pages viewed, time on site and the contacts found so the team sees every visitor in real time.
