Have AI rename 100+ photos by content and sort them into folders

Hand AI a pile of IMG_1234.jpg files to name and sort by what's in them, then spot-check before using the result.

Start step 1 ↓

The problem

Photos exported from your phone, product shots or event photos are all named IMG_xxxx, so finding one means opening them one by one. The original case zipped 100+ images, gave them to ChatGPT Agent and had it rename them by content into subfolders.

What to prepare

  • A zip file

How to do it

  1. 1

    Practice with 20 photos first

A small batch is easier to spot-check and less likely to hit limits.

  2. 2

Spell out the naming rule and categories

Copy the prompt below and replace the examples with your own details before sending.

  3. 3

    Spot-check with the mapping table

Open 10 at random and confirm the names and folders make sense. Keep the originals until you're sure, then delete.
