Automatic Shopify reorders for low stock: a fixed flow is enough, no AI needed

Check Shopify stock every morning and, below the reorder point, email the supplier a prewritten order. An AI agent quoted at $5,200 became a $700 workflow.

Start step 1 ↓

The problem

A supplement brand's 14 products had been reordered from the same supplier in the same quantities for over a year. No AI judgment was needed.

This one needs no AI tool: use Shopify's built-in automation, or a workflow tool like Zapier or Make.

What to prepare

  • Shopify inventory, plus a table of products, reorder points and suppliers (e.g. reorder protein powder at 200 units)

How to do it

  1. 1

First check whether the rules are fixed

If products, quantities and suppliers don't change, ordinary automation is cheaper and easier to maintain than an AI agent.

  2. 2

Set up a daily morning check

Below the reorder point, look up the supplier and fill in the prewritten order.

    Prompt
  3. 3

    Test with drafts first

The original case sent orders directly. Stop at drafts first and send after approval.
